About
As the Local Officers of Reproductive and Sexual Health (LORSH), we work to advocate for access to and use of Reproductive and Sexual Health Services and promote sexual and reproductive health for women, men and the LGBTQ community.  We work with the Men’s Health, Women’s Health and LGBTQ Interest Groups to hold events such as talks on emergency contraception, and workshops including IUD insertion and pelvic exams. We are hoping to set up new events including a night with transgender individuals and physicians who treat transgender individuals. We are also working towards making curricular changes to increase the education regarding reproductive and sexual issues, particularly regarding LGBTQ health and how to provide good healthcare for these individuals.

About
  • Global Health Advocates (GHA) collaborate with other GHA representatives from other Canadian medical schools, to promote awareness and advocacy initiatives on a designated topic.
  • GHAs also participate at the CMFS Annual Lobby Day. Along with other GHAs, they gather on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and engage in discussions with policymakers on a particular health initiative or issue. Such lobbying provides an excellent opportunity to exercise the health advocate role of the medical profession.
