Year 2 Anglophone Class Co-President
It has been an honour and privilege to represent you as class president this year, and I hope you will give me the opportunity to do so again! I know this year hasn’t been what any of us expected, but I hope that we can work together to make next year even better.
Over the last seven months, I have worked to support you and represent your interests to the faculty and within ASoc. Some of the things I worked on this year include:
During the upcoming school year, I will continue to work with faculty, unit leaders, and ASoc to bring your ideas to life, to implement your suggestions and feedback, and to continually improve the curriculum and our medical school experience.
I also plan to work on the following initiatives:
I will also continue to advocate on your behalf at faculty meetings and communicate your values and priorities including:
The role of co-pres is highly collaborative, and I will work closely with all our other class representatives on ASoc to make sure Year 2 is the best possible. This includes working with VP Social to plan inclusive and accessible social events, VP Academic to improve the curriculum, and with VP Community Health and our SAO reps to promote student wellness.
As always, I want to hear from you and bring your ideas to life. If you ever have a suggestion or don’t know where to start with an initiative, message me and we can work together to make it happen! I will continue to ensure that your voice is heard. I know there’s always room for improvement, and I look forward to learning from you how better to serve our class.
I can’t wait to work with and meet more of you soon, so we can all get to know each other better. Never hesitate to message me, my inbox is always open 😊
Year 3 Francophone Class Co-President
Année 2 : Quelques exemples de ce que j’ai accompli
Année 3 : Objectifs à réaliser
Year 3 Anglophone Class Co-President
I want to start by saying thank you for your constant support and trust you have had in me for the past two years. I am sure none of us expected a medical school experience like this one. The COVID-19 pandemic brought numerous challenges to our lives. For me as your class president I had more meetings, feedback, and uncertainty. This period was not easy for anyone including myself; however, I have taken every necessary step for my well-being during these difficult times. I hope everyone also prioritized their well-being during COVID as well. The niche experience that I had as your class president significantly contributed to my leadership skills and advocacy efforts, both of which allowed me to serve you better. The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic will require a multi-faceted advocacy effort based on concerns that you have about clerkship, CaRMS and beyond. This platform strictly captures all of your feedback. Here are some of the main platform points that I want to work on and/or continue with:
Your well-being: If you ever reached out to me to give feedback or suggest an area of advocacy, you might find that I like asking a lot of questions. Often, I like having video or phone conversations to better appreciate your experience, which takes time but is important to me. I feel very lucky and privileged to be a part of a class where I feel close to everyone. I like getting your point of view and understanding your concerns thoroughly in order to optimally advocate for you. Moreover, it is important for me to have a chat about your well-being during COVID-19. Moreover, this year I am part of our Side-by-Side Peer Support program to improve my peer-supporting capabilities. Please continue to reach out to me and I will always do my best to advocate and be there for you.
Experience: Beyond my two years as your class president, I am privileged to have also been elected as the Director of Medicine for the UOSU. This role allows me to collaborate with our colleagues on a larger platform. Being able to sit in on various meetings allows me to better advocate for our faculty and for you. Furthermore, it teaches me about leadership and advocacy carried out at a larger scale. These past 2 years of class co-presidency have allowed me to significantly improve my time management, collaboration, and leadership skills so that next year, I can be the best version of myself.
COVID-19: While we still struggle with the pandemic, the educational impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on clerkship, CaRMS and beyond require advocacy and experience to navigate. I promise to continue bringing your current and future concerns up with the faculty, so that our clerkship experience and residency applications are not negatively impacted by the difficulties posed by the pandemic. Our faculty is always there to support us.
Thank you for your trust and support; it means the world to me.
Year 4 Francophone Class Co-President
Year 4 Anglophone Class Co-President
It has been my honour to serve as your class president this past year. The pandemic has brought many unexpected changes and surprises, but it has been a privilege to be your advocate throughout the past year. I have identified several points of advocacy for the coming year and would like to share these with you!
I currently sit on the C2022 Advisory Committee, where student representatives can advocate for decisions regarding our cohort. I would like to focus on the following aspects in the following year:
TRANSITION TO RESIDENCY
